CDP Multi-User Site Licences

Every CDP System comes with a single user licence as part of the package. The single user licence allows the user to install the CDP software on both a desktop and a portable computer, as many people have both a fixed and a mobile working environment.

Site Licensing is required for educational Institutions or music studios running multiple workstations.

With Release 6, the cost of Site Licences has been lowered and also now includes the cost of the initial software package, whereas before the software was a separate item. The number of Site Licences can be expanded at a reduced rate as noted on the SOFTWARE page, because the software is already in place. The 10% discount rate can be used when ordering Site Licences. Apply to CDP for a discount voucher code.

The number of Workstations covered by the Licence should be at least equal to the number of networked or separate computers on which the CDP software is being run. This means two or more separate or networked computer workstations running CDP, whether owned by the Institution or by the students themselves. 'Separate computers' may be the Institution's own computer workstations each with their own CDP installation, or students' own computers, whether desktop or laptop, that are networked into a central CDP System run by the Institution, or running a CDP System provided by the Institution. The latter is an option open to an Institution with a Site Licence designed to ease problems of access when assignments are demanding.

The Student Special Discount is available only to students at Institutions with a Site Licence. This enables a student at your Institution to purchase the CDP software at a discount greater than 50%. The purpose of this offer is both to facilitate completing project work, and also to enable students more easily to become full CDP members able to update their CDP software via the CDP Website or get Upgrades after their formal studies, thus continuing to build their expertise in sound design.

Please contact CDP regarding a licence for any other numerical configuration. (We recognise that studios for composition and recording for commercial purposes may, for example, require a licence for only 2 or 3 workstations.)

The cost of licensing is not prohibitive and under present policy is a one-off payment, unless the number of workstations increases, in which case only the additions need to be licensed. CDP software comes with the first batch of licences, but not with the additions.

It is essential that you abide by the licensing requirements, as it will otherwise not be possible for us to continue our special student discounts policy at your College or University.

Setting up a secure networked environment using the CDP software can involve solving some technical issues. With Release 6 we have sought to improve the way(s) this can be done. Please consult Richard Dobson (richarddobson(at)blueyonder.co.uk) about this.
